One of the big highlights of the last month has been Olena's birthday.  My darling, crazy, extreme, goofy, and wild child turned the big 9.  Her biggest dream and wish...to visit the Gas Monkey Garage from the show Fast and Loud.  Well it is not like the kid needed any toys, so her dream came true, well most of it.   We packed up the suburban and drove 18 hours for 2 days all the way to Dallas.  We enjoyed 60-70 degree weather and she was thrilled! She would have really loved to meet the star of the show, who is her self proclaimed future husband, but he was in AZ for the weekend at the Barrett Jackson Auction.

The weather here is just to unbearable for good outside pictures so her 9 year old photoshoot will need to wait until the spring.

I will try to get some videos uploaded in the next few days.  Michigan has had something like 48 inches of snow in the month of January, which is more than we have ever gotten in a full season! We have trying to make the best of it and have gone sledding a few times.  This week I am thinking we will try the ice rink and see how E does on skates!   No luck with building any snowmen though because of the polar vortex, it has been too cold to do that.  Cold dry snow doesn't pack very well.  Everyone seems to be enjoying it though.  Big difference from the winter we had last year.  This time of January Olena was still riding her roller skates up and down the street while wearing a sweat coat.

Gotta call it a night, have a lot more stuff to get done.  Good night.

Notice anything different?

A little accessory for her Aunt Rickie's wedding.  She kept telling us she wanted long hair like us for the wedding but we just never grew it out.  So voila! instant long hair! I do plan to make it look a lot nicer for the wedding.  Literally she walked in from playing in the sprinkler and I shoved it on her head.  Once her real hair is curled it will blend and look more uniform. I am proud at how well I matched the color, I was worried because I ordered it off line.

Being brave the best way she knows how.

Olena has a big issue with getting her nails clipped. This has been a problem since bringing her home and though it has improved a bit in four years, it is still a 45 minute fight just to trim her fingers and toes. She has never been hurt - she just has a problem with it due to her sensory disorder - she is extremely over sensitive when it comes to her feet or hands. I am cutting her nails the other day.... O: do you have to cut the baby one too? M: Yes! O:NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO, not the baby one OK? M: I have to, it's really long O: NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO, its my dragon claw. M: I still have to cut it O: NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO, just leave it ok! Leave them all. I can do it. M: how? you don't know how to use the clippers. O: like this! (as she attempts to put her toes in her mouth and act like she biting the nails off) M: that's just wrong....not to mention disgusting. I need to cut them. Please give me your foot. O: (as nervous as be) just wait a minute.....**big sigh**....(gr
