The new addition

Well as much as I would love for the new addition to be another child, it is not. Instead we have "adopted" a reptile...say hello to Mr. Turtle.

Olena found him at my parents house a few weeks back and she fell in love with him, and mommy being a push over (and also someone who LOVES turtles and always wanted one) gave in and said yes lets keep him. J and I built a nice habitat for him outside, with lots of stuff to do and places to hide. He even has his own little pond! He knows comes to us for food and doesn't really hide anymore when we come over to him. He he is not afraid of Olena in the least bit, which surprises me because she is the one who is always poking at him. She likes to watch him hide and come back out, she thinks he's silly. And for those of you panicking right now about all of the diseases and germs that turtles carry....it know! I make sure to take all necessary precautions when handling him, feeding and cleaning and I have been teaching Olena how important it is. My family has always had tons of pets and not just dogs and cats, we always a bit of everything from snakes to ducks! I have seen the faces of horror on many of mothers we have told - trust me I tell Olena to "stop it" when I catch her licking Mr Turtles shell!

Notice anything different?

A little accessory for her Aunt Rickie's wedding.  She kept telling us she wanted long hair like us for the wedding but we just never grew it out.  So voila! instant long hair! I do plan to make it look a lot nicer for the wedding.  Literally she walked in from playing in the sprinkler and I shoved it on her head.  Once her real hair is curled it will blend and look more uniform. I am proud at how well I matched the color, I was worried because I ordered it off line.

Being brave the best way she knows how.

Olena has a big issue with getting her nails clipped. This has been a problem since bringing her home and though it has improved a bit in four years, it is still a 45 minute fight just to trim her fingers and toes. She has never been hurt - she just has a problem with it due to her sensory disorder - she is extremely over sensitive when it comes to her feet or hands. I am cutting her nails the other day.... O: do you have to cut the baby one too? M: Yes! O:NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO, not the baby one OK? M: I have to, it's really long O: NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO, its my dragon claw. M: I still have to cut it O: NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO, just leave it ok! Leave them all. I can do it. M: how? you don't know how to use the clippers. O: like this! (as she attempts to put her toes in her mouth and act like she biting the nails off) M: that's just wrong....not to mention disgusting. I need to cut them. Please give me your foot. O: (as nervous as be) just wait a minute.....**big sigh**....(gr
